On the way home yesterday the Fazer lost power with a very strong burning plastic smell. After pulling over and whipping the main fuse out. It turned out the was a great hole in the side of the main relay.
All dealers were quoting 3-5 days and it costs the both of us £30 each per day on the train. A swift search of ebay pointed us to a second-hand part from BikeSpeeduk it arrived today.
Here’s hoping it fixes it, the dash has been out of action for a while as well so we are hoping it will fix that too. Would be nice as first MOT is due next month!

UPDATE: Relay only fixed ignition, oh well *sigh*

For two up high mileage sports riding the new FZ-1 Fazer rocks, long gone is the soft suspension and woolly engine. Don’t even think about anything smaller or less robust. We broke a few lesser beasts on the way to this conclusion, details will follow shortly.
